My design for the pre master landscape is about the future of the gardens in buikerslotermeer.
Where birds like the Hawk, Shore Swallow, Swift, Magpie and the White Stork get there space back that we people took from them when we build a 40 meter wide highway for the use of our environmentally polluting cars.

I want to show in my masterplan the beauty of the allotment gardens in the future of buikerslotermeer.

3. Concept sketches

How can I connect the meadow and the allotments to the city? What is the function of the highway in the future?
4. Inspiration
​
I got my inspiration for the plan of a story about a citywall from my current living town.
There was ones a city wall what had a function of defending the town. And from time to time the function lost it from the future and it develops in a historical element with new surroundings.

5. The problem
​
The highway of Buikerslotermeer is just like the city wall. It is an line of stone sand and concrete that divides the city and the allotments from each other.
The highway is the main obstruction to go from the city to the allotment parks. It feels like the Gardens are hidden away behind a concrete wall. Shut down from the world.

6. Concept maquette
​
In my master plan the highway lose his function from time to time towards the future just like the city wall. The ground that we ones took from the birds will be redesigned and given back to the birds with also a new traffic system for the humans.

7. Transport line
​
A new tram line on the spot of the highway is still letting the citizens of Amsterdam travel from one way to on other. But as a designer I also felt the need to make new bird places.

8. New bird islands in the Masterplan
​
So I made bird islands for new breeding spots and research in a part of buikerslotermeer where they live, what they eat and which animals are living around which plants.
9. Noise of the Highway
A the moment the noise of the highway is very loud and disturbing for the breeding birds.
​
The decibel level of the highway is at the moment more then 70 and with a new tram line I reduce it to the lowest level of breed disturbance.

So that there will be in the future more sound reduce for human and animal.
11. Section new situation
In my detail research of the masterplan I made a scheme with drawings of the current situation with the highway of 2021 to the future situation with no highway and what the place could look like then.
With making the highway a historical element of the past. For the new future of buikerslotermeer.
12. Time visuals

- More bird breeding places
By removing the highway there will be a reduce of sounds voor the sky, water and ground fauna. There we be also more ditches for the waterbirds which can breed in the reeds of the banksides.

What the area could look like when the highway is gone and only some historical pieces will be there just to remind us about the new future that we created for human and bird in Buikerslotermeer.
