Remembrance trees
Proton irradiation is a new way for cancer treatment. The Isla Hospital in Zwolle wanted a new centre for sick children. The design is providing comfort to parents and children in a dire situation by means of space. Living and treatment are separate with natures between and around it.
Sketches of my research how I changed the landscape.
I looked at the current tree row and the waterpond, and made lines in the landscape that helped me to make the new walking routes.

The trees in the area have special meanings for the people, there are planted by them selfs if someone has died.
The buildings in the landscape are for childeren with cancer. That they are surrounded by nature, and if the have treatment, the take cares can play and walk with them outside.

Each resident has his own space to retire to, the common space is for the children to play with others and still have connection with other childeren. Here too, parents can talk to others in the same situation.
